A long delayed update from Aamrai farms in Ratnagiri. A rare phenomenon was observed in 4 trees at our farms. Due to the temporary pause in the rains in the first two weeks of August, sporadic flowering had sprouted on four trees in of our farms. Unfortunately the subsequent heavy downpours in the last week of August resulted in the flowering being destroyed. If this flowering had sustained, we might have got a few boxes of hapus as early as December. We were hopeful that we might just be lucky and get a taste of the Ratnagiri alphonso mango once again in 2022. Alas that was not to be and we will have to wait until the next year.
Otherwise things are looking good at Aamrai, there has been ample rainfall and it has exceeded the target monsoon. Hopefully it will subside now and end in the next few weeks, making way for an early and abundant flowering in October.
