July 2021
One of our regular customers in Dubai, surprised us with good news on a hot July morning. Lo and behold, it’s a baby AAMRAI sapling bravely facing the desert heat in Dubai.
The gentleman who loves our alphonso mangoes and had got several boxes this last season, planted a mango seed in his villa garden in Al Qudra. He was not sure if it work out but he trusted nature and maintained a consistent watering schedule as well as adequate fertilizer and micro nutrients. His efforts bore fruit and he now has a relatively healthy sapling in his garden. We are providing inputs from our farms in Ratnagiri, India to try to ensure that the sapling survives the brutal summer and alien conditions.

The baby seems to be doing fine and has borne the brunt of the harsh summer. It seems to be all set to enjoy the cooler Dubai weather over the next few months. Its growth seems to be a touch slow but its early days for the little one. On either side of the sapling, our customer has planted a moringa tree (also known an drumstick) and a hibiscus plant.
We are advising the customer to use a shade net with 50% shade since adequate sunlight is very important. Watering should be done on alternate days and organic manure can be used once every month. Other than that its just wait and watch.
Fingers crossed that we soon have an AAMRAI (mango orchard) in Dubai as well.
